History Overview

A bold vision when it opened in 1986, Desert Mountain is now one of the greatest golf meccas in the country.
Desert Mountain Milestones:

1986 – Desert Mountain is established.
1987 – Renegade, Desert Mountain’s first Championship Jack Nicklaus Signature course, opens. Luxury golf course homes are available for sale at Sunrise, the first village of custom homesites within
Desert Mountain.
1988 – The Cochise course opens.
1989 – The Geronimo course opens.
1990 – The Bob Bacon designed Cochise/Geronimo Clubhouse opens.
1993 – The Sonoran Clubhouse opens.
1996 – The Apache course opens.
1997 – The Renegade Clubhouse opens. The Sonoran Clubhouse is expanded. Desert Mountain receives the Urban Land Institute “Award of Excellence” for recreational large-scale communities.
1999 – The Saguaro Forest, Desert Mountain’s largest village of custom home sites, opens.
The Chiricahua course opens.
2000 – The Apache Clubhouse opens. Robb Report names Desert Mountain the world’s “Best Golf Community.”
2002 –  The Chiricahua Clubhouse opens. The Sonoran Clubhouse fitness center is expanded from 4,000 to 8,000 square feet. Desert Mountain receives “Home of the Year” for the Chiricahua Villas (Palermo model) in the 2002 Gold Nugget Awards Best of the West competition.
2003 – Outlaw, Desert Mountain’s sixth Jack Nicklaus Signature course, opens.
The Outlaw Clubhouse opens.
