Travel is, at its heart, a process of discovery.

There is no better way to experience it than with your fellow Desert Mountain Members.

One component of the DNA within many of our Members is the desire to travel and explore. Even though travel opportunities disappeared in 2020 and lasted through most of 2022 when the world experienced a challenging health crisis, Members were resilient and enjoyed their own “staycations” right here on the Mountain.

However, the yearning to hear the ocean or watch the autumn leaves change never left their hearts and minds. The good news is after many Covid travel restrictions were lifted, Members could not wait to resume their traveling adventures.

In recent years, to help foster that spirit of exploration and grow a sense of community, Desert Mountain has provided Members with several opportunities for international travel adventures. In June 2023, our Outdoor Adventures team guided a group of Members on a 12-day hiking trip to explore the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain. With stops in the Spanish Pyrenees, Burgos, Leon, Llanes and others, this walk traversed the two most scenic paths: the famous Camino Frances and the lesser-known Camino del Norte.

Based on the outstanding reviews from Members who attended this one-of-a-kind adventure, coupled with growing recreational and travel trends in the club industry, Desert Mountain decided to expand and elevate our international travel opportunities. Our Members’ on-the-go lifestyles and broad interests allowed our team to unleash our travel imagination and create Club travel opportunities like never before.

The Racquet Sports team served up an exclusive opportunity to attend the 2024 French Open with fellow Members. This trip included attendance to the French Open as well a luxurious exploration of Monaco and the French Riviera. Based on Member response, this trip is game, set and match and sold out quickly.

The Golf team has teed up numerous adventures across the globe. In January 2024, the team showcased the beauty and majesty of South Africa. This 11-day golf trip included private visits to wineries, golf, sightseeing locations, and safari game viewing, all the best that South Africa has to offer.

Later that year, Members set sail on a unique golf and travel opportunity with a cruise of the southern coast of Spain and France. This 11-day sailing adventure in true Mediterranean style began in Nice, France and included visits to Barcelona, Marbella and Valencia, Spain.

They played some of the southern hemisphere’s most revered courses such as Cape Kidnappers, Kauri Cliffs, Te Arai, Kinloch and Tara Iti, in addition to several other courses.

For Members seeking a more spirited adventure, the Outdoor Adventures team has also created rafting trips down the Colorado River in the depths of the Grand Canyon with geologist and river expert Wayne Ranney. This adventure first happened in August 2024, and is planned again this summer. In February of 2027, Members can also take another challenging adventure with a hike of the Grand Canyon to the canyon floor with stays at both Phantom Ranch and the iconic El Tovar Hotel.

Members have also had the opportunity for cruises down the Danube River and exploration around the best of Vietnam, each delivering exquisite dining and luxury accommodations.

Life for our Desert Mountain Members is guaranteed to be exciting and memorable. If you want the opportunity to experience amazing international travel opportunities with the finest of amenities, speak to our Membership team to see how you can let the journeys begin.
