It’s a game of camaraderie, patience and resilience, qualities perfectly aligned with the mission of Tee It Up for the Troops. This charitable organization hosts golf tournaments across the nation, bringing communities together with the shared goal of supporting veterans, active-duty service members and their families.
Through engaging golf tournaments and community events nationwide, Tee It Up for the Troops provides essential funding for programs that aid veterans and their families in critical areas such as mental health, employment assistance, housing and adaptive sports. Their vision is to create a community where veterans are not only acknowledged and celebrated but empowered and supported throughout their lives.
Desert Mountain has been a strong advocate of Tee It Up for the Troops’ mission and was proud to host the 4th Annual Tee It Up for the Troops Golf Tournament back on May 12. To tee off the event in style, Team Fastrax, the largest professional parachute demonstration team in the world, dropped in to Renegade Golf Course with a massive American flag in tow. With smaller American flags lining the clubhouse pathways, club Members, guests and staff all showed up to give thanks to and support the many veterans and their families from all branches of service who came out for a great day of golf.
The event showed its fourth straight year of growth, selling out faster than ever and ultimately becoming the largest event so far with 27 fivesomes and 135 golfers. Overall funds raised have increased every year since the event started, and this year’s total revenue exceeded $225,000!
One unique aspect of the event was that every sponsored foursome included a Medal of Honor Recipient or a local combat veteran in each group. The Medal of Honor is the highest award in our nation’s military given for acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty. There are only 61 living Recipients, and it was truly an honor to host three on site.
The impact of Tee It Up for the Troops extends far beyond the fairways, as the organization has successfully raised millions of dollars, positively affecting countless veterans and their families. By fostering camaraderie through golf, they offer veterans therapeutic opportunities for connection, healing and reintegration into civilian life. Each event strengthens community bonds and delivers a clear message of gratitude, ensuring that those who bravely served our country feel recognized, valued and supported every step of the way.
