Women's Golf Day is an international celebration dedicated to women golfers of all ages and skill levels.

It’s aimed at encouraging female participation, celebrating accomplishments and fostering a welcoming environment on the course. First started in 2016, it has since grown on a worldwide scale and has amplified the reach of women’s golf.

At Desert Mountain, golf is a central part of our community. Through a state-of-the-art performance center, clinics, tournaments and organized golf leagues, a goal of the Desert Mountain Golf team is to provide the requisite resources for all golfers to play at their best on some of the best golf courses in Scottsdale. Whether ladies are looking for a more casual round or greater competition, Desert Mountain has both to suit whatever kind of fun on the course they are looking for.

Tournament Play

Desert Mountain has over 30 different tournaments throughout the year, each one providing a unique theme and type of play that creates a new challenge each round. Notably, the one many Members look forward to the most is Mountain Magic, a ladies Member/Guest, three-round team tournament that receives the most attention every April.

Coinciding with the men’s Mountain Mania, these two tournaments combine to form the largest private club Member/Guest tournaments anywhere in the country. With nearly 300 ladies signing up, the event always tees off in style with many participants dressing up themselves and their carts to the (back) nines. This past year’s theme, “Life’s a Beach”, brought out the best beach and tropical attire, and once again added to another great year of golf.

Others like Dos Amigas, the Match Play Championship, Club Championship and Senior Club Championship, all provide a unique style of play, giving Members – young and old – new chances to win each tournament.

Organized Leagues

For any lady looking for just a bit more casual golf, the Ladies League, Lady 9-Holers and Par Seekers provide just that. The Ladies League is the largest golf group on the Mountain, and meets weekly throughout the year, while the Lady 9-Holers and Par Seekers enjoy low-pressure, social and non-competitive golf. Each round is a new course, and the format and pairings could also change to enhance the fun and variety.

Ladies who may want to branch out their competitive spirit and face off against other clubs, joining an Interclub team may be just for them. These teams pit other private golf clubs in Scottsdale against one another for a monthly tournament at different golf courses. While still competitive, these tournaments allow for further connection and friendship with ladies from other clubs that share the same lifestyle of golf luxury.

These leagues are a great place for any newcomer to join and learn the game. As with all events at Desert Mountain, the social aspect is what makes the Club thrive. One can be out on the course for a few hours, then meet back at the clubhouse for lunch and a round of drinks. Women’s Golf Day seeks to put the social interaction at the forefront giving women everywhere the opportunities to “learn, play and grow through the game of golf.” If you want to do the same at the top-rated golf club in Scottsdale, our Membership team would be happy to talk with you.
