While Desert Mountain may be renowned for championship golf, exceptional dining, and an active lifestyle, some of the Club’s most meaningful connections begin with a leash, a wagging tail, and a trip to the Bark Park.
A Place Built for Play
Since opening in spring 2024, our Bark Park has quickly become a favorite gathering place for Desert Mountain’s four-legged residents and their owners. The 19,500-square-foot park features separate areas for small and large dogs, allowing pups of every size to play and socialize comfortably.
Agility features keep energetic dogs moving, while shade structures, misters, water bubblers, and self-draining drinking stations help everyone remain comfortable during warm desert days.
The park’s design also reflects Desert Mountain’s commitment to environmental responsibility. K9Grass turf drains up to 100 times faster than standard turf, helping prevent puddles and mud while saving an estimated 717,750 gallons of water each year.
A Calendar Worth Wagging About
Bark Park is more than a place for an afternoon playdate. It has become a lively social hub with events that give Members and their dogs new ways to connect throughout the year.
Recently held on the 4th of July, our Members dressed their pups in their “paw-triotic” best for an America-themed “Yappy Hour”. The festive morning featured coffee, drinks, and light snacks for our Members, and special Puppuccino Cups and swag for our furry four-legged friends.
When Halloween approaches, Howl-o-Ween lets pups show off their most adorable – or frightening – costumes during a festive gathering. Dog moms and dads will enjoy seasonal hot cider alongside special treats crafted just for the dogs, and plenty of opportunities to mingle and snap memorable photos.
During the holidays, Santa Paws adds a little magic to the season. Members can create pawprint ornaments, collect a treasured photo with Santa, and donate food and toys to support a local animal rescue. The event combines holiday cheer with an opportunity to care for animals still waiting to find their own families.
Four-Legged Fun Beyond Bark Park
Dogs are also welcome at other larger family traditions around the Mountain.
Thanksgiving morning begins on an active note with the annual Turkey Trot. Members can participate in a one-mile fun run or walk or take on the 5K fun run and race. For many families, bringing their dogs along makes this healthy holiday tradition even more memorable, and gives energetic pups a head start on earning a few Thanksgiving treats.
The annual Spring Family Carnival offers yet another chance for the entire family to join the fun. With carnival games, bounce houses, face painting, egg hunts, prizes, and seasonal activities, the celebration brings generations of Members together with beloved canine companions adding their own playful energy to the day.
Creating Community, One Paw at a Time
Dog-friendly programming at Desert Mountain does more than provide entertainment. It helps Members meet neighbors, build friendships, support animal-rescue organizations, and create traditions with every member of their family.
National Dog Day may come only once a year, but at Desert Mountain, dogs have something to celebrate in every season. Whether their perfect day includes racing through an agility course, walking a 5K, dressing up for Howl-o-Ween, or posing with Santa, there is always something for our four-legged friends to wag their tails about.
